Going Out Clothes

When I was getting ready to go out to dinner and drinks with DC Area people, I searched through my entire closet for something good to wear. Last time, when we met at the zoo, I wore shorts, a t-shirt and a baseball hat. This time, I wanted to show that I can look good. I really do know how to dress to go out on the town!

But as I looked through my closet, I could not find The Perfect Thing. During this search (and multiple trying on of different shirts, I had the following conversation with my dear husband:

caramama: Why don't I have any cute "going out" shirts anymore?
Londo: Because you grew out of them and didn't buy anymore because you are a mom now and don't wear those clothes anymore.
cm: Silent and glaring.
L: I mean, because they were old and you just haven't had time to replace them.

I like the second answer better, even if the first is more true.

I loved this! Here I thought I was the only one "cursed" with an honest husband. (I learned early that if I ask him if I look fat in something he will only say "that is a loaded question.").

I'm having the same closet issue, and shopping for shirts is extra difficult given my new post-baby-no.-2 figure. *Sigh* There is also the "am I really still young enough to wear [brand]"? issue since I haven't really shopped for clothes since I was in my 20s.

Oh, I'm the same way. I only have work clothes, grubbies, and things that don't really work with nursing bras or just don't look right anymore.

It's ok -- just get back on the horse with the shopping! But if you ever buy a pair of "Not Your Daughter's Jeans" then I'll have to stage an intervention.

My cousin said it took her 4 years after her first son (2 years after no.2), before she actually went out shopping for cute/sexy clothes again. Probably 'cos she didn't have time to go shopping in peace, which is something I can relate to. All my shopping is rushed and either I come home with something that is completely wrong as dd/ds/dh have rushed me into making the wrong decision, or I come back with nothing.

But at least you still work, so I know you have some nice clothes. Mine consist mostly of sweats and baggy tees.

I took my sister to Ann Taylor Loft after she had her baby for some cute things. I think its perfect styles for anyone out of college 25-40 ish. Most of the time I feel tike their closes are designed for women with actual bodies, curves, boobs and acknowledge out varying heights by having petite, reg. and tall pants.

Obviously from my last post I need to remember to check my grammar before posting :0)

I'm having the same issue...I have slowly been dumping more tops into the the "Goodwill" pile (some I really really liked!)and have about 3 items left that are decent. It's just not cute anymore if my tops creeps up a little and flashes all that stretchmarked ill-shaped flesh.
