I Don't Know Where She Learned It

The other night while standing in the bathtub (she's too busy to sit for long), the Pumpkin looked up at me and said, "Umpkin* ha boogah." Which, yes, translates to "Pumpkin has a booger."

And then? She stuck her finger up her nose!!!

I have no idea where she learned that behavior. Absolutely none! After all, I would NEVER say anything along the lines of "Come here and let Mama get that booger" while using a nail to get the slimy thing out of her nose. I'm much to refined and ladylike to ever do something like that!

Of course I always use a tissue and patiently wait for her to blow her nose into it, even though when I say blow she blows from her mouth and not her nose. I will admit that I gave up on that stupid that bulb snot sucker thingy after she screamed bloody murder for the umpteenth time!

It's just... my pinky nail fits so perfectly and I can just get it out so quickly! And I mean to use the word "snot" but sometimes perhaps the word "booger" just slips out...

Okay okay. It's me. She learned it from watching me! But don't tell Londo... I'm totally blaming the babysitter!

*Yada yada she used her real name yada yada...

OK I'm giving you bonus point for the 80's anti-drug PSA reference.

Too funny. Our Pumpkin has taken to *requesting* the nose bulb. But only when there is nothing to suck out. If she has a stuffed up nose, she still screams bloody murder when she sees the thing coming.

It's hard not to pick the boogers, isn't it? Especially when they're RIGHT there! Taughting you!

I'm having trouble not picking dandruff off Midgette's dry scalp. It's right there when she's nursing, and I don't have much else to do...

Just this morning little one said, "It's mommy's job to get my boogers, it's daddy's job to vacuum."

Why oh why is it just SO TEMPTING???? They're just like low-hanging fruit.

I'm Not Skippy - Sweet! Bonus points!!

Cloud - Too funny that she requests it, but only when she doesn't really need it.

La folle - It's RIGHT there! How can we not?

My Buddy Mimi - The Pumpkin has had cradle cap since a few weeks into life. It is SO HARD to leave it alone. These days, after it flakes off her scalp, it is stuck in her hair. So while she's brushing her teeth, I stand above and pick it out of her hair. Londo says I look like a mama gorilla picking lice out of baby's hair. hehe.

Julie - It's your job, eh? hehe. Low-hanging fruit is EXACTLY what it is like!

Totally there with the cradle cap thing. Although, I learned if I lube his head up with baby oil and let him spend the night sleeping on a towel, it just washes all right out in the morning.

I can never pick his nose. Those teeny nostrils are too small. The don't even fit the snot sucker. no wonder the kid gets sinus infections...the boogers have nowhere to go.

We have boys here. Booger is part of our everyday vocab. Actually, picking noses is a daily occurrence, too.

*sigh*

I had no idea other moms did this! I thought something was wrong with me for having the urge to pick my son's nose at all times-- without getting a tissue first. And now, yes, he picks his nose because of me.

Ha ha ha! She'd have figured it out all by herself without your help, if that makes you feel any better.

Once upon a time, my husband actually clipped an article for me citing research that proved that nosepickers get sick less often than non-nosepickers.

I have no doubt where Miss G got nosepicking. I can't say I'm certain where the booger-eating came from. I figure it this way... Dogs scratch their ears and instinctively lick their paws clean, so booger-eating... maybe innate cleanup instinct?

Honestly, I'd rather she eat the boogers than smear them on the couch. It's gross, but at least no crusty surprises!
