Depressed

I'm not doing well and can't even bring myself to finish the Question of the Week post I started. Maybe I'll get it out tomorrow, but I don't know...

And, I feel like the worst mother in the world.

Oh, Caramama- I'm sending you big hugs and wishing I could send you some of the sunshine we've had here this week!

I hope you feel better soon.

When I feel down, I go back through all of our online baby photos and videos (we have the organized by month). There is always something in there to make me smile, at least for awhile.

Hugs. I wish it were warm and sunny, for your sake and everyone's.

Sorry you feel like the worst mother in the world...I thought I had that locked up!

You are not the worst mother in the world, I promise. I hope you feel better soon (((HUGS)))

Oh, I'm so sorry you feel sad. Do whatever it is that you think you need right now. Pregnancy is hard--really hard. My own depression hit an all-time bad during pregnancy, so I can relate.

And I assure you that you are a great mother.

Hang in there..I'm thinking of you.

Honey....big hugs. You do realize a strong willed, bright toddler's JOB is to make you feel like the world's worst mother, right? And I can guarantee you you're not (Maggie and possibly Will today would volunteer me for the post, just for starters).

I didn't get a chance to respond to the last post, but YAY for one of each! I grew up in a family with one younger brother and now have an older girl, younger boy combo so I am ALL ABOUT the one of each families!

I'm sorry you are having a tough time. Pregnancy, SAD and the general exhaustion that comes with having a toddler has to be a really crappy combo. lean on the love you have around you and cut yourself HUGE slack.

Oh no! I can't imagine you could have done anything remotely worth the "worst mother" designation. I hope you feel better soon.

I am so glad to know that there are other people who have days like this too.

Know that you are loved!
Hope the smile returns sooner than later.

I hope you feel better soon, and you certainly CAN'T be the worst mother.

Hang in there Caramama. Only 2 weeks 'til warm, sunny Florida. Between now and then, can you take a day or two off and just rest/relax/sleep while the nanny watches the Pumpkin?

Toddlers are hard. Winter sucks.

take an afternoon off and take a nap in the sun?

don't worry about blogging, we will still all be here.

Some days are just hard, and the best you can do is just get through. And that's OK. What you're doing (pregnancy, toddler, SAD, etc., etc.) seems hard because it IS hard. You're still doing a great job.

I've been a non-commenting reader but had to come out of lurkdom for this.

Hey Cara, he is actually heSaid@purplehouseonpearl.com, but what can you do with multiple sign-in names. :)

After a year and a half, sheSaid and I have gone through so many days where it is hard to feel like you are not failing your kid. So, let me tell you what I think. Even in a rough mood, you have always been supportive and kind to an entire community of people who you get to know without ever meeting. If you turned half of that goodness to your little girl and the little boy to come, I think you might have some of the few well balanced kids out there.

Keep doing what you do, and don't worry about a rough patch. You will get through it, and you have us if you need us.

Yes, what everybody said including winter is hard, pregnancy is hard, 20-something month olds are very hard, and Caramama is very awesome.

Hang in there, sending you internet hugs!!

I don't know if toddler tantrums are what are making you feel like the worst mother, but in case they are, I had to come back and say one more thing:

When my Pumpkin is pushing me and I can't seem to do what she needs/wants, and I feel like the biggest failure as a mother... (can you tell this has been happening a bit here lately?) I tell myself that she feels safe pushing the limits with me BECAUSE I am a good mother and she knows it will be OK. And that the reason her Daddy/grandmother/aunt/day care teacher/random person on the street can get her to do things with less drama because she needs to test the limits with the person she sees as the one most in charge of keeping her safe- and that is me.

Feel better soon.

Caramama, big hugs! You are doing a great job! That you are a warm, wonderful, loving mom shows through in all your posts. The Pumpkin and her soon-to-come little brother are very lucky.

Also, what I tell myself when I feel like I've blown it on some parenting thing: as hedra has said much more eloquently on her blog, perfect parents are detrimental. As a good friend said to me once, what you're really aiming for is a solid B. :)
