Question of the Week - Counting Our Blessings

It's Thanksgiving week here in the US. And although it may be boring to ask, I really think it's important to think about and share what we are all thankful for--and I really want to know. But let's liven up the question a little bit.

This week's question of the week is:
What is something unusual and/or funny you are thankful for this year?

Because of course we are all thankful for our children, our partners, our family, our friends, our health, yadda yadda yadda.

I am thankful for the roof-top carrier that goes on top of the car to put luggage in. Otherwise, we would either not be able to do the trip to the inlaws with the two adults, two kids, the dog and our luggage, or we would have had to buy a minivan by now!

Oh, and I'm especially thankful for Z0loft! Here we are in mid-November, and I'm actually feeling pretty good! (The tired and sleep deprived are not from my SAD this time!) When I told my doctor that I'm so thankful for the meds, he said, "Well, they couldn't have done it without you." I like him partly because he has a similar totally corny sense of humor to mine.

I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

- I am thankful my infant is so sensitive to my diet, because she helped me give up gluten, sugar and caffeine when I couldn't do it on my own!

- I am thankful for caffeine-free diet coke (see above), which actually feels like a treat now.

- I am thankful for Trader Joe's lightly salted crunchy green beans, which taste yummy and make me feel like I'm eating something decadent, when all I'm really eating are green beans.

- I'm thankful my hubby and I have the same silly sense of humor. Can't wait to see Fantastic Mr. Fox!

I am grateful for utter and complete preposterousness. Because it allows me to find humor in situations that might otherwise make me filled with rage.

I am grateful for crockpots.

I am grateful for post holiday candy sales, lately times have called for lots of chocolate.

I'm thankful for Glee. It is the highlight of my tv week.

But I'm especially thankful for my daycare provider who sent my son home smelling like gingerbread because she amazingly found time to bake them admidst the presence of 7 other children!

I'm thankful for Petunia's ridiculously easy bedtime routine. It may be the only reason I haven't gone stark raving mad at bedtime this week, since Pumpkin has just decided that she doesn't need to go to sleep.

I am grateful for laptop computers that allow we to watch movies while I clean.

I'm thankful for an unexpected email I got from a mommy acquaintance (who I hope will become a real friend). It made my day so much that I'll just share it verbatim here:

"Hi Hush ~

Been thinking about you and yours. I will give you a call in hopes of getting together. Random perhaps but if you ever need an understanding ear for a day that is either happy or sad, please know there is nothing off limits in motherhood and that sharing, just like when we were babes, is caring ;) Don't gag ;)! Hope each and all are getting some rest.

Take good care,
Mamafriend"
