Question of the Week - We Love to Laugh

I call my baby boy Smile Guy because he smiles so much. He also laughs a lot, and we're finding more and more ways to make him laugh every day. It was really easy to make the Pumpkin smile and laugh, too. We love to make these kids laugh. There is just something about the sound of kids and babies laughter that can make everything feel right with the world.

This week's question of the week is:

What do you do to make your kids laugh?

Still being a baby, the Pookie laughs at physical sensations. You'll surely get a chuckle from him if you put your hand on his belly and jiggle side to side. He cackles when you tickle the back of this thighs or kiss his jawline. He laughs with gusto if you lift him in the air and lower his face to your for kisses. Heck, sometimes he even giggles if you just look at him and smile!

We make the Pumpkin laugh mostly with silly songs or silly faces. She doesn't yet get jokes, but she does love it when we use the wrong words in songs. She also laughs for joy when she's swung around or running around playing.

How about you all? How do you get your kid going? And isn't it just the best sound in all the world?

our favorite to change a mood is threaten him with 'doggie kisses'. Our terrier is a very gentle and reserved kisser, but our hound is anything but and it doesn't take much to entice her go nuts with it.

That threat alone usually gets him laughing

it IS the best sound in the world! I called Dana at work not 20 minutes ago because I was getting Emmett to laugh just by gently tapping my fingers from his belly to his cheeks (not THOSE cheeks)! I thought she might need some cheering up because going back to work has been tough for her.

he's not quite 4 months, so laughing's a relatively new thing.

But for Aria - she LOVES to laugh and say funny things to make us laugh. she likes to try to make Emmett laugh, though he's only just smiled at her. he'll get her jokes soon enough. She'll laugh hysterically when she is pushed high and fast on a swing, her favorite thing to do at any playground.

I don't care how you are feeling, when you can get a baby/kid to laugh it makes everything all better. :-)

All I have to do most days is look at Alexis and cross my eyes. She loses it instantly. It's the best thing ever.

It's music to my ears. Funny shows like Ie Age get my older boys going.

When my boys were around 6 - 18 months, there's this little Romanian rhyme that I'd recite while my hands hovered "dangerously" above them and I'd wave my finger and move my arms above them while the poem would continue (which actually just translated into: where is it going, to the little boy, to get him, but where, but where, but WHERE?!?!?! -- high pitched finale--). Then I'd SWOOP down and tickle them somewhere different each time I'd repeat it. I used to love doing this when my twin boys were really small and still in the bouncy chairs, both looking at me and giggling their crazy heads off until they went into hysterical laughter when I swooped (I can still do this at 3.5 years old and they'll laugh LOUDLY).

Now that they're preschoolers, any kind of silly rhyming will do it. Also, physical humour like falling or slipping "on purpose." Throwing leaves around was a big giggle-fest last weekend...
