Question of the Week - Time Sucks

Okay, I know I've been a bit neglectful of my blog and others' blogs. I'm really sorry about it. I have tried to keep up. It used to be that blogs (writing and reading) took up all my free time. I do love the blogs. That and good books. Those were always my biggest time sucks (outside of work, family and sleep, of course).

But now, there is a new thing taking my time... I joined Facebook. I did it. I refused to join for a very long time because I knew it would just eat up my time. But my sister's been bugging me for years to get on. Then my best friend and some others close to me got. The final straw was that my sister started telling me about the word games that you can play against your friends and online. I loves me some word games.

So now, I'm completely addicted. And it has been great. I've found old friends, coworkers and even acquaintances who I'd lost touch with. Although an ex-boyfriend sent me a friend request, but that is easily ignored.

But mostly, I've found really fun word games. The time I usually spend writing posts and reading and commenting on other blogs is getting completely sucked away. One time suck getting sucked away by another.

So today's question of the week is:

What is your biggest time suck?

I don't mean work or sleep or family stuff. That time is your life. But there are those activities that we get into and tune out the rest of the world, that we choose to do in any free time we have. Those are time sucks. Which are yours?

Facebook didn't appeal to me much. I'm on it, but I don't spend much time there. I like it because you can "friend" someone you knew way back when as a way to say "huh, you're still alive," and then go on with your life.

Digg.com on the other hand. I'm getting better about not spending hours a day on Digg. I used to be that way on my artwork, that was at least productive. . . I need to get back to that.

I know, I have considered abandoning my blog in favor of Facebook. So addictive...

When I first joined it a couple months back, Facebook was a big time suck. The last couple of weeks, with being a bit down and all, not so much. Blogs. Fora. Knitting. Don't have time for much else right now, I have a baby that crawls better every time she sees cats to chase!

Facebook for me too! (wanna friend me? My real name is in my email, if you get to see it). And also general netsurfing, and blogs especially.

Don't worry about Facebook being a time suck for long. After you find all your initial long lost friends it tends to take up a lot less of your time.

My latest time suck happens to be Big Fish games. Ironically, I like the time management games. Yeah, I waste my time by managing little fake people running Dairy Queens... oh that is so much sadder in print.

The biggest time suck is the INternet for me but without it I would lose my mind I think. I need it to help me cope with my kids...a 2 year old and and infant. And yes Facebook is another one, but that one falls in the category of the Internet. There is nothing else I even have the time to waste time on!!! The irony...

Yeah, Facebook sucked time away from my blog as well. So has T.V. lately. Even though the shows I usually watch aren't back yet (except The Office and 30 Rock), we've been watching Top Chef, Man vs. Wild, Intervention and other "reality" shows.

lately facebook as well but also I've become totally re-addicted to watching Alias on DVD. I'm almost done, about a third of the way through the 4th season. I've started having spy themed dreams so that should really tell me something.

facebook too! I don't play games on there, but just seeing what's up takes a chunk of time. That and reading science fiction. Could spend so many hours reading if I had them...have to resist reading at the table just because things are quiet. Anyway, Friend me, caramama :) --you have my name from email.

Across the board, I'd have to say the computer in general. Sorry if it's cheating, but it's the truth.

My biggest time-suck I think is just life.
Family keeps me hopping. There's always someone who needs attention, something that needs cleaning, meals to be prepared, appointments to be made and driven to...
When I have free time from that, I try to get schooling or certifications in.
And when I have free time from that, our old house always needs work.
